Each bureau scores each person separately. The joint loan is the only link between the two reports.
| Situation | Effect on your score |
|---|---|
| Your co-applicant has a low score | None on your score. It can affect whether the loan is approved, and on what terms. |
| You apply together | The lender usually checks both reports, so the application typically shows as an enquiry on each. |
| Joint EMIs are paid on time | Positive for both of you, month after month. |
| A joint EMI is missed | Recorded as late on both reports, whoever was “supposed” to pay it. |
| Your co-applicant misses their own card bill | Only on their report. Yours is untouched. |
When two people apply, the lender reads both reports and usually looks at both incomes. A co-applicant with a long, clean history and a steady salary can make a borderline application stronger: there is more income to cover the EMI and a second person responsible for repaying. A co-applicant with recent defaults can do the opposite and hold the application back, even if your own report is clean.
That is why the choice matters more than the relationship. A spouse, parent, sibling or even a friend can be a co-applicant with Omozing; what helps is a sound report and income. Our guide to strengthening an application with a co-applicant covers who makes a good one. If you are married, see also whether your spouse’s score affects yours.

Omozing welcomes co-applicants. Salaried, take-home of ₹40,000 or more and a score from 600: a credit officer reads both reports in full.
No. Scores are calculated per person from their own report. Their low score can affect the loan decision, but it doesn’t change your score.
Yes. A co-applicant or joint borrower usually has the loan on their own report too, with the same repayment record as yours.
It can. A missed EMI on a joint loan is reported against everyone on the loan, so both reports show it.
It can weaken the application, because the lender assesses both people. Choose a co-applicant with a clean recent history and steady income.
No. A co-applicant shares the loan and its repayment from the start. A guarantor steps in only if the borrower doesn’t pay, though the guaranteed loan can still appear on their report.
