Personal loan by salary: how much you can borrow at every income

In short: Your salary sets your EMI room, and your EMI room sets the loan. If a lender lets half your take-home go on EMIs and you have no other loans, ₹40,000 a month supports roughly ₹5.85 lakh over 36 months at 14% a year, ₹1 lakh supports about ₹14.62 lakh, and from about ₹1.7 lakh a month the formula passes Omozing’s maximum of ₹25 lakh. Existing EMIs, the rate and the tenure move these numbers a lot. Pick your band below for the full grid.

Illustrative only: 50% FOIR, no existing EMIs, 14% a year, 36 months, rounded down to the nearest ₹1,000. The rate is an example, not an offer; Omozing’s rates start from 11% a year. Our maximum is ₹25 lakh; higher limits may be available from other lenders or secured loans. The amount any lender offers depends on a full assessment of your credit report, income and existing loans.

Bars are to scale up to the ₹25 lakh cap. From ₹2 lakh a month the formula gives more than our maximum, so those bars stop at the cap.

How to work out your own number

Start with take-home. Use the salary credited to your bank account, not your CTC.
Apply the FOIR limit. Multiply by around 0.4 to 0.5. That is the most all your EMIs together can be.
Subtract current EMIs. Loans, card EMIs and pay-later plans all count. What is left is your EMI room.
Convert to a loan. The loan is what that EMI repays at the rate and tenure offered. A lower rate or longer tenure means a bigger loan.

Every band page shows this for two FOIR limits, three levels of existing EMIs, two example rates and two tenures, so you can find the row that looks like you. Why FOIR matters.

₹40,000 to ₹75,000

Every rupee of existing EMI matters here. Closing a small loan first, or adding a co-applicant, often lifts your limit more than anything else.

₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh

The formula runs from about ₹14.6 lakh up to our ₹25 lakh cap. Tenure becomes a cost choice rather than an eligibility one.

₹3 lakh and above

You are past our cap, so the questions are how fast to repay and whether to borrow at all. See loans for high earners.

What most people get wrong: they expect a fixed multiple of salary, like “20 times your pay”. Two people on the same salary can be offered very different amounts, because one already pays EMIs, has a lower score (which raises the rate) or chooses a shorter tenure. The maximum is also not a target: borrow what the need costs, not what the formula allows.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum salary for an Omozing personal loan?

A take-home salary of ₹40,000 a month, credited to your bank account, with a credit score from 600.

Do lenders use gross salary or take-home?

Usually take-home, as shown on your salary slip and bank statement.

Why does my band page show a range, not one number?

Because FOIR limits, rates, tenures and existing EMIs differ. The range shows how each changes the answer.

Can I borrow more than ₹25 lakh?

Not from Omozing; our maximum is ₹25 lakh. Higher limits may be available from other lenders or secured loans.

Does a better credit score raise my maximum?

Indirectly. A better profile can mean a lower rate, and the same EMI repays a bigger loan at a lower rate. How score affects rate.
