Omozing Personal Loan · Skill upgrades and certifications
A cloud certification, a PMP, a data or AI bootcamp, a part-time executive certificate: the right course can lift your pay or open a new role. The wrong one is an expensive EMI with a PDF at the end. Here is how to tell the difference before you borrow.
This page is for people who are already earning and want to keep earning while they learn. If you are planning a degree, a full-time course, entrance coaching or study abroad, our guide to a personal loan for education covers that ground, including when a bank education loan is the better choice.
Costs range from a few thousand rupees for an exam to many lakhs for an executive programme. A few verified reference points, in the currency the providers charge:
| Item | Reported cost | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| AWS certification exam (Foundational / Associate / Professional) | US$100 / US$150 / US$300 per attempt | StudyTech, February 2026 |
| PMP exam (PMI member / non-member) | About US$405 / US$655, with an increase reported from August 2026 | PM Study Circle, April 2026 |
| PMP retake (member / non-member) | About US$275 / US$375 | PM Study Circle, April 2026 |
| Executive MBA programmes at IIMs | Typically ₹10–30 lakh or more | Futurense, March 2026 |
| Online certificate programmes and bootcamps | Often ₹50,000–₹3 lakh | Illustrative range; prices vary widely |
Dollar fees are charged in US dollars; the rupee cost depends on the exchange rate and any card forex mark-up on the day you pay. Confirm current fees on the official certification body’s website before you pay. Executive MBAs are degree-level programmes; see our education loan guide for those.
The headline fee is rarely the whole bill. Add a preparation course, practice tests, a possible retake, membership or renewal fees, books, and sometimes unpaid leave for the exam or capstone. Here is an illustrative budget for a working professional doing a data and AI certificate programme.
Illustrative budget, not a quote for any course.
A course is an investment only if it raises your income. The simplest test: divide the full cost, including interest and fees, by the extra take-home pay you realistically expect each month after finishing. That gives the payback period in months.
Illustrative: ₹1.5 lakh borrowed for 12 months at 11% a year (interest about ₹9,087) plus a 3% processing fee and GST (about ₹5,310), for an all-in cost of about ₹1,64,400. Scale: 10 units per month. Raises are not guaranteed; use figures from people in your company or field who completed the same course.
If the payback is under 24 months on a conservative raise, the course is a reasonable bet. If it only works on an optimistic raise, or depends on switching jobs in a tight market, borrow less, choose a cheaper route to the same skill, or wait. And remember the EMI starts now, not after the raise: you need to afford it on your current salary.
| Loan amount | 6 months | 12 months | 18 months | 24 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₹75,000 | ₹12,904 | ₹6,629 | ₹4,539 | ₹3,496 |
| ₹1.5 lakh | ₹25,808 | ₹13,257 | ₹9,078 | ₹6,991 |
| ₹3 lakh | ₹51,616 | ₹26,514 | ₹18,156 | ₹13,982 |
Illustrative EMIs at 11% a year, the rate Omozing’s loans start from, reducing balance, excluding processing fee and GST. Your rate depends on your profile and is shown in the Key Fact Statement (KFS).
A worked example, using an illustrative profile, not a real customer: Imran, a support engineer in Chennai, takes home ₹58,000 with no EMIs. Two colleagues who completed a cloud associate certification and a hands-on programme moved into cloud operations roles with roughly ₹12,000 more a month in take-home. His employer does not sponsor the programme. He budgets ₹1.5 lakh in all and has ₹75,000 saved, so he borrows ₹75,000 over 12 months: an EMI of about ₹6,629, around 11% of his take-home. On a conservative ₹8,000 monthly raise, the whole ₹1.5 lakh course plus about ₹7,200 of loan interest and fees is recovered in roughly 20 months, inside the 24-month target.
| Option | Cost | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Employer sponsorship or reimbursement | Often none | Skills your current employer values | Service bonds or clawback if you leave; read the policy |
| Free or low-cost public courses (SWAYAM, NPTEL) | Free to learn; small exam fees | Foundations before paying for a premium course | Less hand-holding; check how employers view the certificate |
| Official exam only, self-study | Exam fee plus books | Disciplined learners with experience | Retake fees if you rush |
| Provider’s “EMI” or instalment plan | Varies; “zero interest” plans may carry fees | Convenience | Often a loan from a partner lender: ask for the KFS and APR, and check what happens if you drop out |
| Bank education loan | Varies | Degree-level or longer programmes | Section 80E interest deduction applies only to higher-education loans from banks, notified institutions or approved charities |
| Personal loan (Omozing) | From 11% a year, plus processing fee | Short courses and certifications, any provider | Not tax-deductible under Section 80E |
| Credit card or short-term loan apps | Revolving card interest and app fees can be very high | Exam fees cleared in full within the card cycle | Avoid rolling over; check apps in the RBI’s digital lending app directory |
The provider-financing point deserves emphasis. Many course platforms show “No-cost EMI” or “Pay ₹X a month” at checkout. Behind it is usually a lender. Under RBI digital lending rules you should receive a Key Fact Statement with the APR before you sign, and the loan stays yours even if you stop attending. Compare it as you would any loan.
Two documents start the process: your last 6 months’ salary-account bank statement and your latest salary slip, plus KYC. You do not need an admission letter. A credit officer reads your full report rather than relying on a single number; see our guide to a personal loan with a CIBIL score from 600.
Fee, exam, retake buffer, materials and any leave. Check the refund policy.
Use a conservative raise from people who have done the same course.
Use our application page with the amount you need beyond savings and a tenure of 6 to 24 months.
Your 6-month bank statement and latest salary slip.
Rate, fees, APR, net disbursal and repayment schedule, before you e-sign.
The loan is paid into your account; pay the course or exam body yourself and keep receipts.
Salaried, ₹40,000+ take-home, score from 600: apply with two documents and see your exact terms in the Key Fact Statement before you sign.
It is an unsecured personal loan that a salaried professional uses for certifications, bootcamps, exam fees or short executive courses while staying in the job. At Omozing the terms are the same as any personal loan: from 11% a year, 3 to 36 months, up to ₹25 lakh.
Bank education loans are built for degree-level and longer programmes, often paid to the institution, and their interest can qualify for Section 80E. A personal loan suits short courses from any provider, is paid into your account, and its interest does not qualify for Section 80E.
Not under Section 80E, which covers interest on loans for higher education taken from a bank, a notified financial institution or an approved charitable institution. Speak to a tax adviser about your own situation.
No. You need your 6-month salary-account bank statement and latest salary slip, plus KYC. Keep the course receipts for your records and any employer reimbursement.
The loan is paid in rupees into your bank account. You can then pay the provider, including international exam bodies, by your usual method. Allow for exchange rates and any card forex mark-up.
You can use the reimbursement to prepay. Check the prepayment terms in your loan agreement before you sign.
Possibly. Omozing considers applications from a score of 600 and a credit officer reviews your full report and income. A lower score can mean a higher rate, which you will see in the Key Fact Statement.
