Omozing Personal Loan · For wedding expenses

Wedding loan: fund the gap, not the whole wedding

Venue advances, jewellery, the photographer who wants 50% upfront: wedding bills arrive months before the day, and rarely when your savings are ready. An Omozing personal loan can cover the shortfall with one fixed EMI you can plan around.

In short: A wedding loan is an unsecured personal loan used for marriage expenses. Omozing, a brand of RBI-registered NBFC Aparampaar Finance, lends salaried people up to ₹25 lakh, at rates starting from 11% a year, for 3 to 36 months, with a credit score from 600 and a take-home salary of ₹40,000 or more. Borrow only the gap between your budget and your savings, and keep the EMI comfortably inside your monthly salary.

Who a wedding loan suits

There is no separate “marriage loan” product hidden behind a different rulebook. A wedding loan is a personal loan whose purpose happens to be a wedding: your own, your sibling’s or your child’s. The money lands in your bank account and you pay vendors as you choose. What makes it work, or not, is the fit between the amount, the EMI and your salary.

A good fit if you…

  • are salaried with a steady take-home of ₹40,000 or more
  • have most of the budget saved and need to bridge a gap
  • face advance payments before a fixed deposit or bonus matures
  • want one predictable EMI instead of card balances and favours from relatives

Think twice if you…

  • would need to borrow most of the wedding budget
  • already pay EMIs that take up a big share of your salary
  • expect a job change or a long break soon after the wedding
  • are borrowing to match someone else’s spending, not your own plan

Your credit score does not have to be perfect. Omozing considers applications from a score of 600, and a credit officer reads your full report and salary history rather than rejecting on a single number. If your score is in the 600s, our guide to a personal loan with a CIBIL score from 600 explains how that review works.

What weddings cost in India

Industry surveys put the headline numbers high. WedMeGood’s annual wedding report, covered in December 2025, put the average budget of the 2,000-plus couples it surveyed (weddings between April 2025 and March 2026) at about ₹39.5 lakh, and about ₹58 lakh for destination weddings. WeddingWire India’s report for 2024 put the average at ₹32–35 lakh. The same WedMeGood survey found that roughly 79% of couples relied mainly on savings and about 15% used loans.

Most salaried families spend far less than these averages. What matters more is where the money goes, because that tells you which payments arrive first. The chart below splits an illustrative ₹12 lakh wedding.

Where an illustrative ₹12 lakh wedding budget goes

Venue and catering₹4.8L Attire and jewellery₹2.4L Décor and lighting₹1.2L Photography and video₹96,000 Guest travel and stay₹84,000 Invitations and gifts₹60,000 Makeup, music, other₹60,000 Contingency₹60,000

Illustrative split (40%, 20%, 10%, 8%, 7%, 5%, 5%, 5%), not survey data. Your own split depends on city, guest count and family customs. Keep a contingency line: last-minute costs are almost certain.

Venue and caterer advances usually fall due first, often several months out. Jewellery is the most volatile line because it moves with gold prices. Plan your borrowing around those dates, not around the wedding day.

How much to borrow

Use the gap method. Start with a realistic budget, subtract what you have saved and what family will genuinely contribute, and borrow only what is left, plus a small cushion for the processing fee (3%–7% plus GST, shown in your Key Fact Statement).

Lenders look at your FOIR, the share of take-home pay already going to EMIs and card dues. After the wedding, you may also be setting up a new home, so leave room.

Illustrative: ₹4 lakh over 24 months at 11% a year. Lenders set their own limits; Omozing looks at your whole budget, not a single ratio.

If your partner or a parent also earns, a co-applicant can strengthen the application and share responsibility for the EMI.

EMI examples

The EMI depends on amount, rate and tenure. These figures use 11% a year, the rate our loans start from, and 16% a year as a comparison so you can see how a higher rate moves the numbers. Your actual rate depends on your profile and is shown in the Key Fact Statement before you sign.

₹2 lakh₹17,676 / ₹18,146₹9,322 / ₹9,793₹6,548 / ₹7,031
₹3 lakh₹26,514 / ₹27,219₹13,982 / ₹14,689₹9,822 / ₹10,547

₹8 lakh₹70,705 / ₹72,585₹37,286 / ₹39,170₹26,191 / ₹28,126
₹10 lakh₹88,382 / ₹90,731₹46,608 / ₹48,963₹32,739 / ₹35,157

Monthly EMI at 11% / 16% a year (illustrative rates, reducing balance). Excludes processing fee and GST.

A longer tenure lowers the EMI but raises the total interest. On ₹5 lakh, stretching from one year to three nearly triples the interest:

Total interest on ₹5 lakh at 11% a year

₹30,290₹59,294₹89,297 12 months24 months36 months EMI ₹44,191EMI ₹23,304EMI ₹16,369

Illustrative, 11% a year, reducing balance, excluding fees. Bar heights are proportional to total interest.

Pick the shortest tenure whose EMI you can carry without strain. If a bonus or maturity is due, ask whether part-prepayment is allowed and at what cost; the terms are in your loan agreement.

A worked example

An illustrative profile, not a real customer. Arjun, 29, is a software tester in Pune with a take-home of ₹70,000 and no existing EMIs. His wedding budget is ₹14 lakh. He has ₹7 lakh saved (keeping a separate ₹1.5 lakh emergency fund untouched), and his parents are contributing ₹3 lakh.

  • Gap: ₹14 lakh − ₹7 lakh − ₹3 lakh = ₹4 lakh
  • Loan: ₹4 lakh over 24 months at an illustrative 11% a year
  • EMI: about ₹18,643, or 27% of his take-home
  • Total interest: about ₹47,435 over two years, plus the processing fee shown in his KFS
  • Over 36 months the EMI would fall to ₹13,095, but interest would rise to about ₹71,438

He chooses 24 months because his partner’s salary will cover more of the household costs after the wedding, and the extra ₹24,000 of interest on the longer tenure buys him nothing he needs.

Eligibility and documents

  • Salaried, with a monthly take-home of ₹40,000 or more
  • Credit score of 600 or more on any bureau (TransUnion CIBIL, Experian, Equifax or CRIF High Mark)
  • Salary credited to a bank account
  • Repayment record and existing EMIs that leave room for a new EMI
  • Optional co-applicant: spouse, parent, sibling or even a friend

Only two documents are needed to start: your last 6 months’ salary-account bank statement and your latest salary slip. Identity and address checks (KYC) happen during the process.

How to apply

  1. Apply online

Fill the short form on our application page with the amount and tenure you have worked out.

  2. Share two documents

Upload your 6-month bank statement and latest salary slip.

  3. Credit review

A credit officer reads your full report and salary history, and may call you to understand your plan.

  4. Read the Key Fact Statement

Before you sign, you get the KFS with the rate, fees, APR and repayment schedule. Check it against your budget.

  5. E-sign and receive the money

The loan is paid directly into your own bank account. EMIs start as per your schedule.

Apply three to four weeks before your first large vendor payment so you are not negotiating with a caterer and a lender at the same time. Omozing never asks for an upfront fee before approval; anyone who does is not us.

Alternatives compared honestly

A loan is not always the right answer. Here is how the common ways of paying for a wedding compare.

If you already have several small app loans, fix that first. SmartSwitch can combine them into one Omozing loan before you take on wedding costs.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Borrowing the whole budget “to be safe” and spending it because it is there
  • Choosing the longest tenure only for the smallest EMI, then paying for the wedding for three years
  • Ignoring the processing fee and GST when calculating what you will receive
  • Applying to many lenders at once: each hard enquiry shows on your report
  • Putting advances on a credit card and planning to “move it to a loan later”
  • Signing without reading the Key Fact Statement
  • Forgetting post-wedding costs such as a new home deposit or travel

Frequently asked questions

Is a wedding loan different from a personal loan?

No. A wedding loan is an unsecured personal loan used for marriage expenses. At Omozing the eligibility, rates (from 11% a year), tenure (3 to 36 months) and documents are the same as for any personal loan.

How much can I borrow for my wedding?

Omozing lends up to ₹25 lakh. The amount you are offered depends on your take-home salary, existing EMIs and credit history. We recommend borrowing only the gap between your budget and your savings.

Can I get a wedding loan with a CIBIL score below 750?

Yes, it is possible. Omozing considers applications from a credit score of 600, and a credit officer reviews your full report and income rather than relying only on the score. A lower score can mean a higher rate, which you will see in the Key Fact Statement.

Can I take a loan for my sister’s or my child’s wedding?

Yes. The loan is in your name and you repay it, but you can use it for a family member’s wedding. A working family member can join as a co-applicant.

Can my fiancé or fiancée be a co-applicant?

Omozing accepts co-applicants including spouses, family members and even friends. Whether a particular co-applicant strengthens your file depends on their income and credit history.

What documents do I need?

Your last 6 months’ salary-account bank statement and your latest salary slip, plus standard KYC checks during the process.

Do I have to show wedding bills or invitations?

A personal loan does not require you to submit vendor bills. Keep your own records anyway so you can track spending against the budget.

When should I apply?

About three to four weeks before your first big advance payment. That leaves time for the credit review and for you to read the Key Fact Statement without pressure.
