Omozing Personal Loan · For any legitimate personal need

Multi-purpose personal loan: one loan, your choice of use

Not every need fits a label. A deposit on a rented flat, a relocation for a new job, a parent’s house repairs and a course fee in the same quarter: a multi-purpose personal loan covers them with one amount, one EMI and one clear end date.

In short: A multi-purpose loan is an unsecured personal loan you can use for any legitimate personal expense without proving where every rupee goes. Omozing lends salaried people up to ₹25 lakh, from 11% a year, over 3 to 36 months, with a credit score from 600, take-home salary of ₹40,000 or more and two documents. It works best when you size it to a real plan and choose the shortest tenure you can afford.

What “multi-purpose” actually means

Every personal loan in India is, legally, the same product: an unsecured loan to an individual, repaid in EMIs. Names like “wedding loan” or “travel loan” describe the most common reason people borrow, not a different contract. A multi-purpose loan simply drops the label. You tell us the purpose on the application, as every regulated lender asks, but you don’t need to submit quotations or invoices for each item, and you can spread the money across several needs.

That flexibility is useful when life doesn’t arrive in neat categories. It is also the reason to be disciplined: with no label, it is easy to borrow a round number and let the extra drift into spending. The rest of this page is about avoiding that.

If one purpose dominates, our dedicated pages go deeper: medical, home renovation, wedding, travel, education, laptops and gadgets and emergencies.

What you can and can’t use it for

Common legitimate uses

  • Relocation: deposit, brokerage, movers, first month’s rent.
  • Family support: a parent’s repairs, a sibling’s fees.
  • Upskilling: a course, certification or exam fee.
  • Combining planned costs: a small renovation plus furniture and appliances.
  • Replacing expensive debt, such as a revolving credit-card balance.
  • Medical or dental treatment not covered by insurance.

Uses lenders typically don’t allow

  • Trading shares, derivatives or crypto, or other speculation.
  • Gambling, betting or lottery-type schemes.
  • Anything unlawful.
  • Lending the money on to others for profit.
  • Business working capital, if the loan was given as a personal loan. Check your agreement.

Permitted and prohibited uses are set out in your loan agreement. Read it before you sign, and ask if anything is unclear.

If your “multiple purposes” are actually several loan-app loans you want to clear, a general personal loan is not the best tool. SmartSwitch is built for exactly that: it replaces your app loans with one Omozing loan and one EMI. For credit-card or other high-interest debt, read what debt consolidation is and when it works.

Who a multi-purpose loan suits

It fits salaried borrowers who have a clear list of expenses due within a few months and a steady income to repay them. Here is an illustrative profile, not a real customer:

The situation. A ₹75,000-a-month software tester moves from Pune to Bengaluru for a new role.
The costs. ₹1,20,000 rental deposit, ₹35,000 movers, ₹25,000 brokerage, ₹70,000 for a fridge, bed and basics, ₹50,000 for a parent’s roof repair back home.
The plan. ₹3 lakh in one loan over 24 months, EMI about ₹14,700 at an illustrative 16%.
The check. With no other EMIs, that is under 20% of take-home salary, and the deposit comes back when the lease ends.

Compare that with putting the same costs on two credit cards and a buy-now-pay-later line: three due dates, revolving interest on the cards, and no fixed end date.

Sizing the loan: list, add, then subtract

  1. List every expense with a date

Write down each cost and when it is due. Use quotes or last year’s bills, not guesses.

  2. Add a small buffer

A margin of 5–10% for overruns is sensible. More than that becomes spending money you are paying interest on.

  3. Subtract what you can fund yourself

Savings above your emergency fund, an annual bonus due soon, or a refundable deposit you will get back. Borrow the gap.

  4. Check the EMI against your salary

Add the new EMI to your existing EMIs. Keeping the total under about 40–50% of take-home pay leaves room for rent, food and surprises; lenders look at the same ratio.

EMI and cost example

Using the ₹3 lakh from the profile above, here is how the tenure changes the monthly EMI and the total interest. The rate is illustrative, for the arithmetic only.

₹3 lakh at an illustrative 16% a year: EMI and total interest by tenure

12 months EMI ₹27,219interest ₹26,631 18 months EMI ₹18,857interest ₹39,425 24 months EMI ₹14,689interest ₹52,534 36 months EMI ₹10,547interest ₹79,696

Illustrative only. Bars show the monthly EMI (reducing balance, ₹3,00,000 at 16% a year). Excludes the processing fee: at 3% plus 18% GST that is ₹10,620 on this amount. Your rate, fee and APR are in your Key Fact Statement.

Going from 12 to 36 months cuts the EMI by more than half, but triples the interest. The best tenure is the shortest one whose EMI you can pay every month without borrowing again. If you get a bonus or increment midway, a part-prepayment can shorten the loan; check the prepayment terms in your agreement first. Try your own numbers on the EMI calculator.

600+credit score from any major bureau
₹40,000+monthly take-home salary
2 documentsbank statement and salary slip

Upload your salary-account bank statement for the last six months and your latest salary slip, along with standard KYC. A credit officer reviews your full credit report, repayment record and existing EMIs, rather than rejecting on the score alone. A co-applicant, such as a spouse, family member or even a friend, can strengthen a borderline application; read how a co-applicant helps. If your score is under 750, see how we assess a personal loan with a CIBIL score from 600.

How to apply

  1. Write your expense list

The sizing steps above give you the amount and a comfortable EMI.

  2. Apply online

Complete the application and upload your two documents. One full application means one credit enquiry, so avoid applying with many lenders at once.

  3. Review the Key Fact Statement

It shows the rate, processing fee, APR, EMI and total repayable before you sign. Under RBI digital lending rules you also get a cooling-off period to exit the loan.

  4. Receive the money in your own account

Disbursal goes straight to your bank account, never through a third party. Spend it to the plan you wrote.

  5. Repay on auto-debit

Set the EMI date just after payday. Timely EMIs build the credit history that helps with bigger loans later.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Borrowing a round number. “Let’s take ₹5 lakh” usually means ₹1 lakh of interest-bearing spending money.
  • Picking the longest tenure by default. It lowers the EMI but raises the total cost.
  • Using the loan for trading or crypto. It is typically prohibited, and losses still leave the EMI to pay.
  • Taking a new loan while carrying app loans. Consolidate first, or the new EMI stacks on old ones.
  • Paying a fee before approval. Omozing never charges anything upfront before approval. Report such requests at 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in, and read how fake loan apps work.

Frequently asked questions

What is a multi-purpose personal loan?

It is an unsecured personal loan you can use for any legitimate personal expense, or several at once, without a separate loan for each. You state the purpose when you apply, but you don’t need invoices for every item.

Do I need to tell Omozing what I will use the money for?

Yes, the application asks for the purpose, as with any regulated lender. You don’t need to submit bills for each expense, but the use must be lawful and in line with your loan agreement.

Can I use a personal loan to invest in shares or crypto?

Lenders typically do not allow personal loans to be used for speculative investments such as shares, derivatives or crypto. Check your loan agreement, and remember that the EMI is due whatever happens to the investment.

How much can I borrow?

Omozing lends up to ₹25 lakh. The amount you are offered depends on your take-home salary, existing EMIs and credit profile.

What interest rate will I pay?

Rates start from 11% a year and depend on your credit profile. Your exact rate, processing fee and APR are in your Key Fact Statement before you sign.

Can I get a multi-purpose loan with a CIBIL score of 650?

Yes, we consider applications from a credit score of 600. A credit officer looks at your recent repayment record, income stability and existing EMIs, so a 650 with a clean recent history can be approved.

Can I add a co-applicant?

Yes. A spouse, family member or friend with a steady income and a clean record can strengthen your application and may help the amount or pricing.

Is a multi-purpose loan better than a credit card for big expenses?

For amounts you can’t clear within the card’s interest-free period, a personal loan is usually cheaper and comes with a fixed end date. For spends you can repay in full by the due date, the card costs nothing extra.
