Omozing Answers › Credit scores and bureaus

The quickest way to confuse the two is to read a CMR like a score. On your personal score, bigger is better. On a CMR, smaller is better: a rank of 1 sits at the safest end and 10 at the riskiest. A business owner who hears “our rank is 8” and feels pleased has read it backwards.
Both arrows point towards lower risk. The colour shading is only a visual guide; each lender sets its own cut-offs for both measures.
| Personal CIBIL score | CIBIL MSME Rank (CMR) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it rates | You, linked to your PAN | A business (an MSME) |
| Scale | 300 to 900 | 1 to 10 |
| Better end | Higher | Lower (1 is the lowest risk) |
| Built from | Your own loans and cards: repayments, balances, enquiries | The business’s own credit facilities and how they have been repaid |
| Used for | Personal loans, credit cards, home and vehicle loans | Credit to the business, such as working capital and term loans |
| Where you see it | Your personal credit report | The business’s own credit report from CIBIL |
Separate scales don’t mean separate lives. For a small business, the owner and the company are often closely linked, and lenders know it.
A guarantor’s report can show the guaranteed loan, and if the business defaults, that can affect your personal score. How guarantees show up.
A loan taken on your own PAN is a personal loan on your personal report, even if the money goes into the business.
A lender to a small business usually checks the business’s record and the personal reports of the owners or partners before deciding.
A late payment on a facility in the company’s name alone, with no guarantee from you, does not by itself go into your personal score.
Keep the two records tidy. Pay business facilities on time, avoid personally guaranteeing more than you can cover from your salary, and check your own report once a year from each bureau for any business loan that shows up in your name. The factors that drive your personal number are explained in how a CIBIL score is calculated.
Omozing lends to salaried individuals, so for a personal loan we read your personal credit report, not a CMR. Our published criteria: a take-home of ₹40,000 or more and a credit score from 600, with a credit officer reading the full report.
Loans up to ₹25 lakh over 3–36 months, two documents, and a credit officer who reads the whole report.
The closer to 1, the better, because 1 is the lowest-risk end of the 1–10 scale. Each lender decides for itself which ranks it is comfortable lending to.
Not directly; they are calculated separately. A business loan you personally guaranteed or took in your own name can show on your personal report and affect it.
Usually, yes. Lenders to small businesses typically look at the owners’ or partners’ personal credit reports as well as the business’s own record.
No. On the CMR scale, 1 is the lowest risk and 10 the highest, the opposite of how a personal score reads.
No. Omozing gives personal loans to salaried individuals, so we assess your personal credit report, your salary and your existing EMIs.
