What a 620 score tells a lender
On the 300–900 scale used by TransUnion CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark, 620 sits below the 700–750 range many banks use as an automated cut-off. It tells a lender there has been some trouble: a late payment, a settled card, high card usage, or a burst of loan applications. It does not say how recent that trouble was, and that is what decides a ₹1 lakh application.
The good news is that ₹1 lakh is a modest amount. Compared with a ₹5 lakh request, the lender’s risk is small and the EMI is easy to fit into a salaried budget. That is why a 620 score with a clean last 12 months and a steady salary is often a workable file at an NBFC that reads reports manually.
What ₹1 lakh will cost you each month
Your EMI depends on the tenure and the rate. Lenders usually price a 620 score above their best rates. Here is the reducing-balance maths at three example rates:
| ₹1,00,000 loan | 12 months | 18 months | 24 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| At 16% a year | EMI ₹9,073 Interest ₹8,877 | EMI ₹6,286 Interest ₹13,142 | EMI ₹4,896 Interest ₹17,511 |
| At 22% a year | EMI ₹9,359 Interest ₹12,313 | EMI ₹6,573 Interest ₹18,312 | EMI ₹5,188 Interest ₹24,508 |
| At 28% a year | EMI ₹9,651 Interest ₹15,807 | EMI ₹6,867 Interest ₹23,611 | EMI ₹5,489 Interest ₹31,732 |

The eligibility maths: does your salary support ₹1 lakh?
Besides the score, lenders check how much of your take-home already goes into EMIs. A common rule of thumb is to keep all EMIs, including the new one, within about 40% to 50% of take-home pay. Each lender sets its own limit, but you can run the check yourself in three lines:
Take-home × 50%
Your rough ceiling for all EMIs. On ₹45,000 take-home, that is ₹22,500.
Minus existing EMIs
Car loan, card EMIs, app loans. Say ₹8,000. Room left: ₹14,500.
Compare with the new EMI
₹1 lakh over 12 months at 22% needs ₹9,359; over 18 months, ₹6,573. Both fit inside ₹14,500, with a buffer.
Illustrative calculation using a 50% rule of thumb. Lenders apply their own affordability limits and also consider rent, dependants and bank-statement behaviour.
Three illustrative 620 profiles, three different outcomes
| Profile A | Profile B | Profile C | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Take-home | ₹55,000 | ₹42,000 | ₹48,000 |
| Why the score is 620 | One card 90 days late, 2 years ago | High card usage, 5 enquiries in 2 months | Two missed EMIs in the last 3 months |
| Existing EMIs | ₹6,000 | ₹12,000 | ₹15,000 across 3 app loans |
| Likely outcome for ₹1 lakh | Workable at an NBFC that reads reports | Possible with a longer tenure or a co-applicant | Hard; fix the overdues first |
Illustrative profiles, not real customers and not a promise of approval. Every application is assessed individually.
Profile C is common: several small app loans creating both the low score and the EMI pressure. Taking a fourth loan won’t help. Replacing the three with one EMI through SmartSwitch may.
How to improve your odds before you apply
- Check your reports first. One free full report per bureau each calendar year; your own check doesn’t hurt the score. Dispute errors through our CIBIL dispute guide.
- Clear small overdues. A few thousand rupees overdue on a card can block a ₹1 lakh loan.
- Bring card usage down below about 30% of your limit.
- Choose 18–24 months if a 12-month EMI would stretch you. Lower EMIs read as safer.
- Add a co-applicant with a better score; see how co-applicants help.
- Apply to one or two well-matched lenders, not ten. Each application adds a hard enquiry.
- Never pay an upfront fee to “unlock” a ₹1 lakh loan. Genuine lenders deduct fees from the disbursal. Omozing never asks for upfront fees.
- Avoid apps that won’t name their RBI-registered lender or that ask for access to your contacts.
Where Omozing fits
Omozing lends to salaried people with a credit score from 600 and take-home pay of ₹40,000 a month or more, so a 620 score is within our range. A credit officer reads your full report rather than relying on an automated cut-off. You need two documents: a 6-month salary-account bank statement and your latest salary slip. Loans run from 3 to 36 months, rates start from 11% a year, the processing fee is 3%–7% plus GST, and the exact numbers are in the Key Fact Statement before you sign. For a broader look at lenders, read our guide to personal loans for a low CIBIL score.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a ₹1 lakh loan with a CIBIL score of 620?
Often yes, from NBFCs that lend to salaried borrowers, if your recent repayments are clean and the EMI fits your take-home pay. Large banks are less likely to approve a 620 score automatically.
What is the EMI on a ₹1 lakh personal loan?
At an example rate of 22% a year, about ₹9,359 over 12 months, ₹6,573 over 18 months or ₹5,188 over 24 months, before fees. Your actual rate depends on your profile and is shown in the Key Fact Statement.
What salary do I need for a ₹1 lakh loan?
It depends on your existing EMIs. With few other commitments, a take-home of around ₹40,000 a month comfortably supports the EMI. Omozing’s minimum take-home is ₹40,000 a month.
Will a 620 score mean a higher interest rate?
Usually, because lenders price in more risk. Compare the APR in each Key Fact Statement, which includes fees, rather than only the headline rate.
Can a co-applicant help me get ₹1 lakh with a 620 score?
Yes. A co-applicant with a stronger score and steady income can improve approval chances. Omozing accepts co-applicants such as a spouse, family member or friend.
How fast can I move from 620 to 700?
There is no fixed timeline and no one can promise a score. Fixing report errors, clearing overdues and paying everything on time usually shows progress within 3 to 6 months.
