Omozing Personal Loan · Credit score 600 to 749
A score below 750 doesn’t have to mean no. Omozing’s credit officers read your full credit report and salary history, so a steady salaried professional with a few past blemishes can still get a fairly priced loan.
Four questions. Nothing you tap leaves this page. This is a guide, not a credit decision.
Credit bureaus such as TransUnion CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark give scores between 300 and 900. Lenders group them into bands. Here is how the bands we see most often are usually read, and what they mean at Omozing.
| Score band | How most lenders see it | At Omozing |
|---|---|---|
| Below 600 | High risk; most lenders decline | Not eligible yet. Work on your score first with our Credit Score Booster. |
| 600 – 649 | Many banks decline automatically | Eligible for review. Approval depends on recent repayment behaviour, salary stability and existing EMIs. A co-applicant often helps. |
| 650 – 699 | Some lenders approve, at higher rates | Eligible. Most decisions turn on how much of your salary already goes to EMIs. |
| 700 – 749 | Generally acceptable | Eligible, usually at a better rate. |
| 750 and above | Prime | Eligible, at the best rates we offer. |
“CIBIL score” is often used for any credit score in India. We consider reports from all major bureaus.
Most lenders that reject a 640 score never open the report behind it. That report is where the useful detail sits: which account was late, by how many days, how long ago, and whether it was cleared. Here is how the common entries are read.
| What you see on the report | What it means | How much it usually matters |
|---|---|---|
| 000 / STD in the payment history | Paid on time that month | Positive. A long run of these is the best thing on any report. |
| Days past due (DPD) such as 030, 060, 090 | The payment was that many days late | A single 30-day delay two years ago matters far less than a 90-day delay last quarter. |
| SMA / SUB / DBT / LSS | Asset classifications lenders use for overdue or bad loans (special mention, substandard, doubtful, loss) | Serious, especially if recent or unresolved. |
| Settled | The lender accepted less than the full amount | Read as a negative for years. Paying the balance and asking the lender to update the status can help. |
| Written off | The lender stopped expecting repayment | The most serious remark. Our guide on what to do about a write-off explains the steps. |
| Many enquiries in a short time | You applied with several lenders | Signals credit hunger. Often seen alongside loan-app borrowing. |

Most of the salaried borrowers we meet with scores between 600 and 700 are not careless with money. Their scores usually reflect one or more of these:
A score is one input. These are the things our credit officers look for when the number alone looks weak:
The same employer, with salary landing on time in your account month after month.
No missed EMIs or bounced payments in the last 6–12 months, even if older history is patchy.
A medical emergency, a job change or a family event that has since passed, and that you can explain.
Your EMIs, including the new one, still leave enough of your take-home for living costs.
A spouse, family member or colleague with a steady income can strengthen a joint application.
Combining several app loans into one EMI with SmartSwitch can make your file look simpler and steadier.
An automated system sees a number. Our credit officers see a person with a salary, a job and a history. Here is what we look at:
How you have repaid over the last 12 months matters more than a mistake from three years ago.
Regular salary credits, time with your current employer and your employer’s standing.
The share of your take-home salary already going to EMIs and card payments.
A one-off event that has been resolved is treated differently from an ongoing pattern.
Spending patterns, bounced payments and any loan-app repayments visible in the account.
A co-applicant’s income and record can balance a weaker profile.
Because of this review, we may call you to understand your situation before a decision. That conversation is often what turns a borderline file into an approval.
With a score in the 600s, the single biggest factor in approval is usually not the score itself but your FOIR (fixed obligations to income ratio): the share of your monthly take-home salary already committed to EMIs and card payments. If too much of your salary is already spoken for, any lender will hesitate, whatever your score.
| Take-home salary | Existing EMIs | FOIR today | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹60,000 | ₹6,000 | 10% | Plenty of room for a new EMI |
| ₹60,000 | ₹21,000 | 35% | Room for a moderate EMI |
| ₹60,000 | ₹33,000 | 55% | Little room; consolidating existing loans is often the better step |
Illustrative figures. Lenders set their own limits, and Omozing looks at your whole budget, not a single ratio.
If your FOIR is high because of several small loan-app loans, a new loan on top only makes things worse. That is the problem SmartSwitch is built for: one loan that replaces them, so your FOIR comes down instead of up. A working co-applicant can also lift the income side of the ratio.
Ravi, 31, IT support lead in Pune. Take-home ₹68,000. Credit score 641.
What a credit officer sees: one resolved, explained delay; 20 clean months since; a stable salary with the same employer for three years; and app loans that are the real pressure point.
A sensible outcome: a loan sized to repay both app loans and bring the card balance down, with one EMI that fits his salary. Ravi closes the app loans with no-dues certificates, his card use drops below 30%, and on-time EMIs start rebuilding his score.
An illustrative profile, not a real customer. Every application is assessed on its own facts.
Omozing personal loan rates start from 11% a year on a reducing balance. Under our Board-approved Interest Rate Policy, the rate reflects risk: a higher score, stable income and low existing EMIs earn a lower rate; a lower score, high obligations or recent delays mean a higher one. Processing fees range from 3% to 7% plus GST. Your exact rate, fees and APR are in your Key Fact Statement before you sign, and you are free to decline the offer.
If your score is near a band boundary, it can pay to improve it for a few months before borrowing, especially for a large loan. Our Credit Score Booster team can tell you what would move it.
Scores update as lenders report to the bureaus, usually monthly. There is no shortcut, but this is what typically moves and when.
| Timeframe | What you can do | What it can change |
|---|---|---|
| First 30 days | Get your reports, raise disputes on errors, pay card balances below 30% of the limit | Error corrections and lower card use can show up in the next cycle or two |
| 1–3 months | Close or consolidate small app loans; stop new applications | Fewer open accounts and enquiries; a lower FOIR |
| 3–6 months | Pay every EMI and card bill on time, with auto-debit | New on-time history begins to outweigh older delays |
| 6–12 months and beyond | Keep balances low and avoid fresh short-term credit | Older negatives fade in weight; better rates become possible |

A personal loan repaid on time every month is one of the strongest positive signals on a credit report. Set up auto-debit, keep a small buffer in your account before each EMI date, and avoid new borrowing while the loan runs. Many borrowers who start with us in the 600s qualify for better rates later. If you want a structured plan, our Credit Score Booster programme works through it with you. We can’t promise a particular score, because scores depend on your whole history, but steady repayment is what moves them. See also can a CIBIL score improve by 50 points in 3 months?

Yes, Omozing considers salaried applicants with a credit score from 600 and a take-home salary of ₹40,000 or more. Approval depends on a credit officer’s review of your full report, salary history and existing EMIs.
Yes. In the 650–699 band, the main deciding factor is usually how much of your salary already goes to EMIs and whether your recent repayments are on time.
Usually, yes. Omozing’s rates start from 11% a year, and a lower score generally means a higher rate. Your exact rate is in your Key Fact Statement before you sign.
Not at present. We recommend working on your score first; our Credit Score Booster service can help you plan the steps.
A thin history is not the same as a bad one. Apply, and our team will assess your salary record and bank statement. A co-applicant with a credit history can help.
Yes, if the settlement is not recent and your repayments since are on time. Paying the remaining balance and asking the lender to update the status from “settled” to “closed” strengthens your application.
If you are carrying two or more app loans, SmartSwitch is usually the better fit: it is designed to replace them with one EMI and to bring your monthly outgo down. See how SmartSwitch works.
Often, yes. A spouse or family member with a steady income and a clean credit record adds income and reduces risk, which can improve both approval and pricing.
Many salaried borrowers in that band do, if their salary and existing EMIs support it. Read can a 620 CIBIL score get a ₹1 lakh loan? for the details.
A full application involves a credit check, which is recorded as an enquiry. Apply with one lender at a time to keep enquiries low.
