| Relationship | Commonly accepted? | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Spouse | Yes, widely | The most common choice; shared household income. Should my spouse be my co-applicant? |
| Parent | Yes, widely | Lenders may look at age and how long the parent’s income will continue. |
| Sibling | Often | Some lenders prefer siblings who live in the same household. |
| Adult son or daughter | Often | Helpful when the child earns a steady salary. |
| Other relatives | Varies | In-laws or cousins are accepted by some lenders, case by case. |
| Friend | Some lenders | Omozing accepts friends. Can a friend be a co-applicant? |
A general guide; each lender sets its own rules on relationships, age and documents.
A salary credited to a bank account every month is what raises eligibility.
Lenders subtract a co-applicant’s existing EMIs, so a well-paid person with big loans can add little.
Recent late payments or settlements on their side can hold the application back.
Lenders set age limits and look at job tenure. Omozing’s application page lists an applicant age of 21–60 years; other lenders vary.
Meghna (an illustrative profile, not a real customer) takes home ₹44,000, pays a ₹5,000 EMI and needs ₹5 lakh over 36 months to repay a family loan. At an example rate of 14% a year, the EMI is about ₹17,089, which would take her EMIs to about 50% of her pay on her own. She is choosing between her mother, a homemaker with no income; her brother, who takes home ₹55,000 but pays a ₹22,000 home loan EMI; and her former colleague and close friend Zoya, who takes home ₹65,000 with no EMIs.
Bars drawn to scale. An illustrative profile, not a real customer. Example rate of 14% a year, not an offer; Omozing’s rates start from 11% a year.
| Co-applicant | Illustrative maximum, 14%, 36 months | All EMIs on ₹5 lakh as share of combined pay |
|---|---|---|
| None, or her mother | ₹4,97,000 | About 50% |
| Brother | ₹6,58,000 | About 45% |
| Friend Zoya | ₹14,48,000 | About 20% |
Her brother is family and earns more than Meghna, yet his home loan EMI leaves only a little room. Zoya makes the file far stronger, but she would take on a loan she gains nothing from. Meghna’s honest options: ask Zoya, with a clear written plan between them; borrow a little less so she qualifies with her brother; or apply alone for a smaller amount.
Lenders care less about the relationship than about whether the second person makes repayment more certain. They usually read the co-applicant’s full report, verify income and count their EMIs. The relationship matters mostly as a sign of stability: a spouse or parent in the same household is easier to rely on than someone in another city. See how a co-applicant changes the amount and how the two scores interact.
At Omozing: co-applicants are welcome: spouse, family members, and even friends. A credit officer reads the full credit report of both of you. Documents and income requirements for a co-applicant are confirmed during the application; ask us at info@omozing.com or +91 88848 00789.
Salaried, take-home ₹40,000 or more, credit score from 600: apply together and check your offer.
Usually yes. Many lenders accept siblings, sometimes preferring those in the same household. Their income, EMIs and report are assessed like yours.
With some lenders. Omozing accepts friends, subject to credit assessment of both of you.
It depends on the lender. A co-applicant’s income helps eligibility only if it is steady and verifiable; ask the lender what it accepts.
Some lenders allow it. Ask during the application, as each extra person adds checks and shared responsibility.
A clean report helps; recent defaults on their side can hurt the application. Lenders read the full report, not just the number.
