Omozing Answers › Credit scores and bureaus

How can I get my full credit report free?

In short: You are entitled to one free full credit report from each of India’s four credit bureaus every calendar year: TransUnion CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark. Request it on each bureau’s own website after verifying your identity with your PAN and mobile number. Checking your own report is a soft enquiry, so it never lowers your score. If you space the four requests across the year, you can see a fresh report roughly every three months without paying anything.

Four free reports a year: stagger them

Most people download one report, see a score, and stop. A better habit is to treat the four bureaus as four check-ups. Each one holds data from the lenders that report to it, so looking at a different bureau each quarter also catches mistakes that appear at one bureau but not another.

An example schedule, not a rule. The free allowance is one full report per bureau per calendar year, so the order and months are up to you.

How to download it, step by step

Type the address yourself. Go to the bureau’s official site (cibil.com, experian.in, equifax.co.in or crifhighmark.com). Don’t follow links in unsolicited messages.
Find the free annual report. Bureaus also sell subscriptions, often shown first. Look for the free report option.
Verify your identity. Enter your PAN, date of birth and mobile number, then the OTP. Some bureaus ask a few questions about your existing loans.
Download and save. Save the PDF, and note the report date and control or reference number for any dispute later.

What most people get wrong: they assume the score in an app is their credit report. A score is one number; the report is the evidence behind it, account by account and month by month. Errors, unknown loans and closed accounts still showing as open only appear in the full report. That is also why you don’t need a paid plan just to see it once.

Once you have the PDF, our guide to reading a CIBIL report section by section shows what to check first. If something is wrong, a dispute is free and must be resolved within 30 days. How to raise one.

Frequently asked questions

How many free credit reports can I get in a year?

One free full report from each bureau per calendar year, so four in total across TransUnion CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark.

Does downloading my own credit report lower my score?

No. It is a soft enquiry and has no effect on your score, however often you check.

Why do the four reports look different?

Not every lender reports to every bureau on the same day, and each bureau uses its own scoring model, so small differences are normal.

Is the free report the same as the paid one?

The free annual report shows your full credit file. Paid plans mainly add more frequent refreshes, alerts and tracking tools.

What if my identity verification keeps failing?

Check that your PAN, date of birth and mobile number match what your lenders hold, then contact the bureau through its official website for help.
