| Your problem | Complain first to | Then escalate to |
|---|---|---|
| A closed loan still shown as open, or a wrong overdue | The bureau (dispute), with your no-dues certificate | The lender’s grievance channel, then the Ombudsman |
| Dispute took more than 30 days | The bureau or lender that caused the delay, for the ₹100 a day owed | The Ombudsman if it isn’t paid. How the compensation works |
| A loan or enquiry you never applied for | The bureau (dispute) and the lender named on the entry | The Ombudsman; and 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in if money was taken |
| The lender is a small NBFC | The lender and the bureau | The scheme covers NBFCs with assets of ₹100 crore or more, so a smaller lender may fall outside it; the bureau itself is covered |
Ombudsman complaints are decided on documents. The clearer your file, the faster it moves. Keep everything from your very first dispute.
The Ombudsman can direct the entity to correct your record, and can award compensation for proven financial loss of up to ₹30 lakh, plus up to ₹3 lakh for harassment and loss of time. Most credit-report cases, though, are about getting the entry fixed quickly. More on how the scheme works: the RBI Integrated Ombudsman and your credit report.
If an entry reported by Omozing is wrong, tell us through our grievance redressal process and quote your bureau dispute number. We will check our records and correct the data we send to the bureaus.
Most report errors are corrected at the first step, free, within 30 days. Here is how to raise it properly.
