Omozing Answers › Loan apps and consolidation
Written by the Omozing Credit Team, which includes IIT and IIM alumni · Reviewed for accuracy by our credit and compliance team · Updated October 2026
| Factor | Easier | Harder |
|---|---|---|
| Total owed vs take-home | One EMI fits with room to spare | The EMI would push all your EMIs past the lender’s limit |
| Payment status | All current, even if extended | One or more overdue, or settled |
| New loans in the last month | None | A new app loan every week or two |
| Hard enquiries | A few, spread out | A cluster from many apps at once |
| Bank statement | Salary on a fixed date, few bounces | Money moving from one app straight to another |
| Other EMIs | None or small | A large existing EMI already |
Lenders weigh these together; there is no single number of apps that rules you out. How existing EMIs are counted.
Joseph is an illustrative profile, not a real customer. He takes home ₹52,000, pays a ₹3,500 two-wheeler EMI, and has six app loans worth ₹1,32,000, about two and a half times his monthly pay. All are current, but he has extended four of them at least once.
Bars drawn to scale (₹46,000 = 300 px). Illustrative profile and amounts.
| Option | Amount consolidated | Illustrative EMI, 12 months | All EMIs incl. ₹3,500 | Share of ₹52,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Consolidate all six | ₹1,32,000 | ≈ ₹13,640 | ≈ ₹17,140 | 33% |
| Clear apps 1 and 2 from salary, consolidate four | ₹1,11,000 | ≈ ₹11,470 | ≈ ₹14,970 | 29% |
Illustrative. The EMI applies our illustrative SmartSwitch example (about ₹7,750 a month for 12 months per ₹75,000) to these amounts; it is not a SmartSwitch price or rate. Your actual EMI, fee and APR are in the Key Fact Statement.
Both options leave Joseph well short of half his pay in EMIs. Clearing the two smallest first also cuts the number of accounts and collection channels from seven to two. If you are unsure which to clear, see which app loan to repay first.
With many app loans, the lender’s real question is direction. Is the borrower adding loans every month, or has the borrowing stopped and the problem become one of cash flow? The credit report shows the accounts and enquiries; the salary-account statement shows the extensions and app-to-app transfers. A borrower who has stopped borrowing, has nothing overdue and can show a clear list of what will be closed is a far easier case than the raw number of apps suggests.
SmartSwitch consolidates several short-term loan-app loans into one Omozing loan with one EMI, so you deal with one lender and one due date. The money goes to your own bank account; you close each app loan and share the NOCs. A credit officer reads your full credit report, not just the score, and co-applicants are welcome: spouse, family members, and even friends.
Start with a plan, then see whether one EMI can replace them.
Lenders weigh the total owed, your salary, overdue status and recent borrowing together. There is no single published number that applies everywhere.
No. It adds an enquiry and an account, and shows the problem is growing. Pay the overdue loan from salary or ask the lender for a short arrangement.
Yes. Clearing the smallest from salary and consolidating the larger ones can bring the EMI within reach.
Yes. They appear on your bank statement, and lenders count them when judging how much you can repay.
