Omozing Answers › Missed EMIs and defaults
Written by the Omozing Credit Team, which includes IIT and IIM alumni · Reviewed for accuracy by our credit and compliance team · Updated October 2026
| Your situation | What it means | First move |
|---|---|---|
| Short by a little, money arriving within days | A short delay; a cash-flow problem | Tell the lender, pay what you can, pay the rest on a fixed date |
| Income cut for a few months | Not a one-month problem | Ask the lender early what options exist: how to ask |
| Several EMIs due and all short | Too much debt for current income | List every loan, contact each lender, stop new borrowing |
| Already past the due date | Days past due are counting | Pay as soon as possible; see what happens after a bounce |
Jatin is an illustrative profile, not a real customer. He takes home ₹54,000 a month and pays a ₹16,000 EMI on the 5th, about 30% of his pay. A hospital bill in the last week of the month leaves him with only ₹7,000 for the EMI, ₹9,000 short. A ₹9,000 insurance reimbursement is due on the 18th. Here is how the same shortfall plays out three ways:
Illustrative. Any days past due can be reported to the credit bureaus, and late or bounce charges apply as set out in the loan’s Key Fact Statement and agreement. Lenders now report four times a month (9th, 16th, 23rd and last day), so a long delay is very likely to show.
Route B is not free of consequences: ₹9,000 is still overdue for 13 days, and charges can still apply. But the lender knows why, the overdue is smaller, and the end date is real. Route C, the one people slide into when they avoid the lender’s calls, doubles the days overdue. Borrowing ₹9,000 from a loan app would add a dearer debt due within weeks.
Jatin’s first 72 hours:
₹9,000, money arriving on the 18th: a number and a date.
By its official channel, with the loan number, the reason and the plan.
He asks how to pay ₹7,000 so it is credited to the EMI. An auto-debit set for the full EMI may fail if the balance is short.
Rent, food, medicine and travel to work first; the rest waits.
Then check his credit report after the next reporting dates.
It gets harder when:
What helps:
Lenders, today’s and future ones, separate a borrower who hit a short, explained problem from one who stopped paying. On a report that shows as the length and frequency of days past due: one short delay, cleared, is a blip; a run of long ones is a pattern. See what one missed EMI does to your score.
If your Omozing EMI is at risk, tell us before the due date. Email us at info@omozing.com or call us on +91 88848 00789 with your loan number, what has happened and what you can pay. Charges for a late or bounced EMI are set out in your Key Fact Statement, your loan agreement and our schedule of charges.

Usually yes, but the unpaid part is still overdue and can be reported. Ask the lender how to pay so it is credited to the EMI, and pay the rest as soon as you can.
No. A late EMI shows as days past due; a loan is usually classed as a non-performing asset only after 90 days overdue. Paying quickly keeps it a short delay.
Usually not. It swaps one due date for a dearer, sooner one.
Tell the lender before the due date with the expected salary date, and pay the EMI the day it arrives. If it keeps happening, ask whether your EMI date can move closer to payday.
Contact every lender. Secured loans and any loan with a legal notice usually come first; then pay what you can across the rest rather than letting one run far overdue.
