Omozing Answers › Loan apps and consolidation

Can I get a consolidation loan if I already have five or more app loans?

Often yes, but the count matters less than three other things. A lender looks at the total you owe against your take-home, whether any app loan is overdue, and whether you are still taking new ones. Five or six small loans that are current, and that one EMI can clear within your salary, can be consolidated. If the total is too large, clear the smallest loans from salary first and consolidate the rest. Stop new app applications before you apply.

What changes the answer

FactorEasierHarder
Total owed vs take-homeOne EMI fits with room to spareThe EMI would push all your EMIs past the lender’s limit
Payment statusAll current, even if extendedOne or more overdue, or settled
New loans in the last monthNoneA new app loan every week or two
Hard enquiriesA few, spread outA cluster from many apps at once
Bank statementSalary on a fixed date, few bouncesMoney moving from one app straight to another
Other EMIsNone or smallA large existing EMI already

Lenders weigh these together; there is no single number of apps that rules you out. How existing EMIs are counted.

An example: Joseph and six apps

Joseph is an illustrative profile, not a real customer. He takes home ₹52,000, pays a ₹3,500 two-wheeler EMI, and has six app loans worth ₹1,32,000, about two and a half times his monthly pay. All are current, but he has extended four of them at least once.

Joseph’s six app loans, smallest to largest

App 1₹9,000 App 2₹12,000 App 3₹15,000 App 4₹20,000 App 5₹30,000 App 6₹46,000 Clear from salary: ₹21,000 Consolidate: ₹1,11,000

Bars drawn to scale (₹46,000 = 300 px). Illustrative profile and amounts.

OptionAmount consolidatedIllustrative EMI, 12 monthsAll EMIs incl. ₹3,500Share of ₹52,000
Consolidate all six₹1,32,000≈ ₹13,640≈ ₹17,14033%
Clear apps 1 and 2 from salary, consolidate four₹1,11,000≈ ₹11,470≈ ₹14,97029%

Illustrative. The EMI applies our illustrative SmartSwitch example (about ₹7,750 a month for 12 months per ₹75,000) to these amounts; it is not a SmartSwitch price or rate. Your actual EMI, fee and APR are in the Key Fact Statement.

Both options leave Joseph well short of half his pay in EMIs. Clearing the two smallest first also cuts the number of accounts and collection channels from seven to two. If you are unsure which to clear, see which app loan to repay first.

When it gets harder, and what helps

How lenders look at it

With many app loans, the lender’s real question is direction. Is the borrower adding loans every month, or has the borrowing stopped and the problem become one of cash flow? The credit report shows the accounts and enquiries; the salary-account statement shows the extensions and app-to-app transfers. A borrower who has stopped borrowing, has nothing overdue and can show a clear list of what will be closed is a far easier case than the raw number of apps suggests.

At Omozing

SmartSwitch consolidates several short-term loan-app loans into one Omozing loan with one EMI, so you deal with one lender and one due date. The money goes to your own bank account; you close each app loan and share the NOCs. A credit officer reads your full credit report, not just the score, and co-applicants are welcome: spouse, family members, and even friends.

What most people get wrong: they think having many app loans means no lender will help, so they borrow from a seventh app to stay afloat. The count is rarely the deciding factor. The new loan taken this week is, because it shows the problem is still growing.

Five, six or more app loans?

Start with a plan, then see whether one EMI can replace them.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a maximum number of app loans a lender will consolidate?

Lenders weigh the total owed, your salary, overdue status and recent borrowing together. There is no single published number that applies everywhere.

Should I take one more app loan to clear an overdue one before applying?

No. It adds an enquiry and an account, and shows the problem is growing. Pay the overdue loan from salary or ask the lender for a short arrangement.

Can I consolidate only some of my app loans?

Yes. Clearing the smallest from salary and consolidating the larger ones can bring the EMI within reach.

Do apps that do not report to bureaus still matter?

Yes. They appear on your bank statement, and lenders count them when judging how much you can repay.
